  9. Developed by Advanced Software Concepts,  TCPack is a Connection Tool designed
  10. to allow simultaneous TCP/IP connections using Apple’s MacTCP driver and the
  11. standard access interfaces of the Communication Toolbox.
  12.  
  13. TCPack can be used both for terminal-emulation and peer-to-peer connections:
  14.   - for terminal-emulation purposes, TCPack supports the Telnet protocol and
  15.     includes a background FTP server to transfer files between your Macintosh
  16.     and the host you are connected to.
  17.   - for peer-to-peer connections, developers have access to the IP Header
  18.     parameters through the Scripting Interface. A technical documentation
  19.     is available on request.

  21. TCPack is MacTCP 1.1 and System 7.0 compliant and supports balloon help.

  24. This Demo is being made available on this forum ONLY for evaluation purpose.

  26. Enclosed is a demo version of TCPack. This version is fully functional, but
  27. the connection time is limited to 8 minutes for each session. Also, an
  28. Installer application is delivered with the commercial version which allows an
  29. End-User or a System Administrator to setup the default connection parameters.

  45. • Any Macintosh with at least 128K Roms (Macintosh Plus and newers).

  47. • Macintosh System Software 6.0.4 or later.

  49. • The Macintosh Communications Toolbox v. 1.0 or later.

  51. • A Communication Toolbox compliant application like 5PM (our own powerful
  52.   terminal emulation application), MacTerminal or Sample (delivered with the
  53.   Communications Toolbox Basic Connectivity Set).

  55. • MacTCP v. 1.0.1 or later, the Apple TCP/IP driver for the Macintosh.

  58. Installation Procedure for TCPack :
  59. --------------------------------

  61. 1) Make sure the CTB and MacTCP are correctly installed.
  62.    In System 7.0, MacTCP must be stored in the Control Panel folder, and for
  63.    versions 1.0.x of MacTCP, an alias must be created and stored at the top
  64.    level of the System Folder.

  66. 2) Drag the TCPack tool into your "Communications Folder" located in the
  67.    System Folder if you are running System 6.0x or in your "Extensions" folder
  68.    if you are running System 7.0.
  69.  
  70. 3) Run your CTB compliant application, select and setup TCPack for the
  71.    connection.
  72.    If you want to start a terminal emulation session :
  73.         - select the appropriate terminal tool,
  74.         - setup the terminal type to be negotiated by TCPack,
  75.         - select the remote port (default should be Telnet : 23),
  76.         - open the session.

  78. 4) Use the On-line help if you have any problems.

  80. 5) The FTP Setup application, which allows you to configure the background
  81.    FTP server can be located anywhere on your disk. It can be suppressed if you 
  82.    don't need the FTP functionality.
